THE PROPERTY
Boracay is known worldwide for its white sandy beaches and crazy beach nightlife. Its popularity also means that the island is teeming with tourists.
For those who prefer to be away from the crowd, don’t fret, there is Shangri-La Boracay Resort & Spa.
From Caticlan airport, a hotel staff welcomes and whisks you to the resort’s private jetty where you board a private speedboat to the resort. The enclave of villas nestling in the dense foliage of Boracay’s hillside start to materialize as you approach the property.
The expansive resort is a wonderland, comprised of suites, villas, restaurants, a world-class spa, a massive pool, and surrounded by extensive manicured gardens. Room categories range from deluxe, premier, premier sea view, to suites, and the coveted villas.
The Treehouse Villa we stayed in has 2 levels– The living/dining area and balcony with jacuzzi is at the main level; and the spacious master suite downstairs. The ensuite is huge with 2 sinks and a large tub next to big windows to soak in the view.
Shangri-La Boracay Resort & Spa probably has one of the best swimming pools we’ve been in. The property has 2 beaches– Banyugan Beach which is the main beach with easy access to the bar and pool; and Punta Bunga beach which is more quiet and has calmer waters best for paddle boarding.
The property has 4 dining outlets: Vintana, where an over-abundance of food greets you every morning for breakfast; Sirena for the freshest seafood; Cielo for easy-eats while hanging out by the beach or pool; and the Italian restaurant, Rima, which is our favorite.
For the uninitiated, Shangri-La Boracay Resort & Spa is not on the famous White Beach where the bars and epic Boracay parties are(with it comes crowds and noise). Boracay’s party central is a 15-20 minute shuttle ride from Shangri-La Boracay. Shangri-La Boracay provides regular shuttle services to and from the hotel.
Shangri-La Boracay is a luxury property with a lot to love where well-heeled travelers make up the bulk of guests, who often include families, couples/honeymooners that love the private and quiet atmosphere. After all, this is the sort of place with a high staff-to-guest ratio and private butlers– and the prices to match.

Panoramic sea views from their Tree House Villas, Pool Villas, and Sea view suites. Jacuzzi and champagne at sunset.
Cultural/Fire Dancers every day by the resort’s beach front at 6PM
