Palazzo Albricci Peregrini’s owners turned turned their family home into a beautiful 6-bedroom boutique hotel with the help of their architect children.

While this hidden-gem isn’t immediately apparent upon arrival–as the property doesn’t have any signage and is located at the back wing of a medieval palazzo– the walk thru the secret patio garden leading to the reception reveals more than you might expect.

You start to notice to notice the great attention to detail like the collection of pieces from the owner’s travels.

Its six spacious rooms marry original features – exposed beams and working fireplaces – with sleekly modern polished concrete floors, distressed walls, accent seating… and in our case, a beautiful peacock chair fit for royalty.

There’s a homely vibe to everything, from your arrival, to the warm and friendly staff, and to all-are-welcome evening apéro.

Palazzo Albricci Peregrini’s visual interest, comfort, privacy, and service is what this property excels in. All in all, an excellent location from which to explore all of Lake Como.

HERMIT TIPS:

  • Stay in the La Stanza de l’Amuur room– it’s huge, has a loft, and the peacock chair is begging for a photo op.

  • The palazzo’s in a limited traffic zone, but it’s fine to drive up to unload and load your luggage. The hotel can give you a parking card for access to a car park just 600m away (€20 a day). Como’s medieval lanes are interestingly narrow, making airport transfers and getting around the lakeside towns by boat much more appealing.
