MANILA: SHANGRI-LA AT THE FORT

THE PROPERTY
Located in a prime central location of BGC, Shangri-La at the Fort is a 5-star luxury lifestyle complex that features a Hotel; The Residences, which is their luxury serviced apartments suited for guests who plan to stay longer; Horizon Homes, a collection of distinct homes situated on the top floors with unhampered views of the metropolis; retail shops; and Kerry Sports Manila, a comprehensive lifestyle and leisure club.
It’s evident as soon as you enter that no expense was spared in designing this property– marble, gilded furniture, beautiful artwork and art installations by local artists (Bea Valdes and Jinggoy Buensuceso), and a massive crystal chandelier greet you. Definitely a more modern take compared to the other Shangri-La properties, especially in Asia.
This property adapts to the Shangri-La’s latest interpretation of luxury where rooms are bright and airy with muted beige tones. A departure from older Shangri-La properties which tend to lean towards darker wood finishes. And in true Shangri-La manner, the bedding and duvet are luxurious with a surfeit of cloud-like pillows.
The Horizon Club Room guests gets access to the Horizon Lounge, which probably is one of the best Shangri-La lounges we’ve been to. They have meeting rooms which Club room guests or Golden Circle Diamond members can use. Lots of comfortable seating space for the leisure guests who just wants to take in the view of Manila over a glass of bubbly and eat-all-you-can Jamon Iberico– Yes, they have a full leg of Jamon Iberico during cocktail hour.
Even though a lot of good restaurants are available nearby, leaving the hotel to dine is unnecessary. The hotel offers a good selection of dining experiences: Steak lovers will enjoy a large selection of premium grilled items as well as an extensive selection of wines and cocktails at the über chic Raging Bull Chophouse & Bar; Ceviches and other Peruvian dishes can be enjoyed at the pool-side restaurant, Samba; Canton Road for modern Chinese fare.
With over 8,000 square meters of space, Kerry Sports Manila is the largest indoor lifestyle club in the Philippines. It has an indoor basketball court, tennis courts, squash courts, extensive gym facilities with state-of-art fitness equipment, exercise studios for yoga, pilates, dance, spinning, kickboxing and mixed martial arts, a wellness spa, a sauna, steam room, and a cold plunge pool.
This property lives up to the Shangri-La reputation by excelling in everything from location, food, ambience, quality, and service.
WHAT WE LOVE
The high life. Enjoy a cup of coffee while taking in the panoramic views of Metro Manila from your room or the Horizon Lounge.
Fitness haven. Kerry Sports is massive and their equipments are plentiful, you won’t fight for the next available treadmill.
Relaxation. After a few laps in the pool, or an hour at the gym, hit the Kerry Spa for a massage. The rates are more affordable compared to Chi Spa.
Choose your poison. The bar at The Raging Bull restaurant serves excellent cocktails.
