THE PROPERTY

One of the best oases from the hustle and bustle of Hong Kong is this beautiful hotel. If you didn’t know it was there, you might not even notice, but The Upper House is as much an experience as it is an actual location. Occupying the top floors of the JW Marriott in the Admiralty district, The Upper House offers a calm and soothing arrival.

From the main entrance, it’s a long escalator ride thru a dimly lit tunnel to the elevator lobby which brings a sense of transcendence, as if you’re about to be transported somewhere else. The elevator lobby is where you will find the Lawn– an urban secret garden to relax and meditate… or have an afternoon cocktail, whichever you prefer.

Upon entering our Upper Suite, our line of site immediately drew us to the spectacular views of Victoria Harbor.

The perfect balance of calming, neutral tones and minimalist interiors beckons you to relax. A well-choreographed play on symmetry is evident in their well-appointed bathrooms.

Never ever have we enjoyed the morning routine as much as we have at The Upper House.

The deep soaker tub and shower are a step-up into a spa-like oasis. The shower rains down onto a solid stone slab. No doors, no barriers, only blissful relaxation as you gaze out over the view. If you’re a little shy, not to worry, the blinds drop at the touch of a button.

The Upper House is a hotel that understands its guests. The team is never intrusive, but always ready. The room is not over designed, but no detail has been missed, including the complimentary Maxi Bar–mini bar which is refreshed daily with soft drinks, beer, cookies and other snacks.

The hotel’s restaurant and bar, Café Gray Deluxe, is a fabulous destination in itself. On the 49th floor, a suspended walkway to the restaurant reception with the faintest twinkle of the Hong Kong skyline through the windows beckons you.

Inside, the dining room, the long bar, and the window ledge booths offer numerous spots to settle in for delightful cocktails and an outstanding meal.

Hong Kong is a wildly frantic cosmopolitan city and The Upper House is a timeless escape, surrounded by the noise, the light, and speed of the city, yet offers everyone a sense of comfort and calm.

WHAT WE LOVE:

  • EXCELLENT FOOD. In the 7 years we’ve been visiting Café Gray Deluxe, the menu never gets boring as it evolves in its tastes, textures, delicacies, and indulgences. A dining experience that will have us back again, and again, and again.

  • CHIC. CHIC. CHIC. From the interiors, the staff, and even the guests, this hotel just exudes understated finesse.

  • LOCATION. Located on top Pacific Place, you need not go far to get your luxury shopping fix. A MRT station is located below the hotel so it’s easy to get around.

  • SPACIOUS ROOMS. Space is a luxury in Hong Kong so consider yourself spoiled rotten when you stay in The Upperhouse.
